ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Director, Government Relations and Public Sector Solutions is Accerta’s business development and government solutions expert outside of Ontario. The new Director will focus on expanding Accerta’s business, cultivating new relationships and identifying opportunities for growth outside Ontario (including federal opportunities). This role expands the organization’s social enterprise by positioning Accerta for strategic opportunities and securing business for Accerta in new markets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Achieve defined sales and outreach targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with governments, agencies, boards, and other public sector and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with decision-makers, procurement leads, and government and public sector stakeholders in jurisdictions outside of Ontario (including federal opportunities) .
  • Manage active engagements with government relations firms to ensure alignment with Accerta’s strategic objectives and targets.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Insights and Proposals to develop targeted, high-quality proposals.
  • Attend conferences and represent the organization at industry events, public sector forums to drive visibility and growth.
  • Monitor market trends and procurement opportunities to develop targeted growth strategies.
  • Manage deliverables from strategic government relations engagements.
  • Cross functional collaboration across Accerta to meet corporate objectives
  • Must be flexible to travel across Canada based on business needs, including attending in-person meetings, conferences, and client engagements.
  • Champion Accerta’s B Corp principles and seek opportunities to animate our social enterprise through new contracts and relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a government relations position.
  • Additional experience in business development, government relations, public sector engagement, or sales in the public sector would be an asset.
  • Deep understanding of the political and policy landscape across Canada.
  • Proven experience in selling to government entities through collaboration with GR firms to drive business growth and secure contracts.
  • Strong understanding of government decision-making processes and procurement cycles.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust with senior public sector stakeholders and turn them into clients.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to effectively negotiate, and presentation skills to pitch effectively and with impact.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively drive strategic growth initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
